Medicare & Chemotherapy

Chances are, you or someone you know has survived cancer with the help of live-saving treatments like Chemotherapy.

Thanks to incredible advances in cancer research, millions have fought - and beaten the disease. One of the most impactful methods of curing cancer is through chemotherapy. Medicare, both Part A and Part B, helps cover this critical treatment.

As outlined on medicare.gov, your Medicare Part A (hospital) insurance covers chemotherapy as a hospital inpatient, while Medicare Part B (medical) insurance covers chemotherapy as a hospital outpatient or in a doctor’s office or freestanding clinic.

As always, it’s important to talk to your doctor or health care provider before any tests are taken or services are performed. What you owe will depend on things like:

  • Other insurance you may have (i.e. Medigap insurance plan...or...Medicare Advantage plan)

  • How much your doctor charges

  • Whether your doctor accepts Medicare assignment

  • The type of facility

  • Where you get your test, item, or service

And, we at Medicare Mindset are always available to discuss your unique situation with you directly. In the meantime, let’s celebrate all survivors!
